I hope 2025 has started well for you and you’ve still got some good bookish gifts left over from Christmas to keep you going. We saw in the New Year with a fancy dress party at our house which was a lot of fun and a very late night – I went as the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz (complete with silver face paint, photos here if you don't believe me) but it all feels like a long time ago already…

Lots of people say that January feels like a slow month, but for me it always starts to speed up when I have a new book coming out, and there’s only six weeks to go now until The Daughter hits the shelves. Here’s a brilliant little trailer created by my publisher to give you a flavour of my brand new story:

I love it! What do you think? So atmospheric and it mirrors the first few chapters of the novel as Lauren arrives to pick her daughter up from university and starts to realise that something is very, very wrong.

The early feedback from readers who have had advance proofs has been fantastic, and I’ve been absolutely thrilled to see the reviews that have come back so far. The run-up to publication is a nervous time for an author, as a new book makes its first tentative steps out into the world, but I really cannot wait until The Daughter is out there for everyone on February 27th.

Whatever your New Year’s resolutions are, I hope they’re going well. One of mine is to read more books and I’ve already read a couple of crackers, so I feel like I’m on track for the time being at least!
